No extra musicians turned up this year at Gainsborough. Bob Cleveland, however, did augment the tunes and songs at Scotton, Brigg and Winterton. Allison Gennery taxied Bob to various venues and assisted with collecting the Minibus.
Again it was demonstrated that a 5 handed sword was feasible. The Fool, however, did not have a small enough head to accommodate the nut.
At Gainsborough there was a very appreciative crowd at the Market Place, who politely stood and watched, including members of Gainsborough Folk Club and also ? Clog from Retford who had never seen the Jag performed before.
Not many in Lords, but notably one of the previous landlords (from the days when it was ‘The Tiger’) spoke to Gordon and said he was pleased to see the Jag still visiting the place.
Surprisingly good response in the Eight Jolly Brewers including the collection of some interesting quotes from an elder lady
New Year’s resolutions
1) Not to drink any more
2) Not to drink any less
Story of interview of 4 ducks, Eany, Meany, Miny, and Puddles.
Excellent reception at Horn Inn as we managed to catch quite a few diners
Similarly at the Malt Shovel despite being earlier than we have been in the past.
Went to Scotton early at opening time 18.00, as Denise Butler was now doing meals, and we ate there. Good food, including rabbit casserole, curries of various types, and beef bourguignon.
When we performed the Jag’, after eating, the place was full.
Nelthorpe Arms was full too in the bar, No negative response this year except for one gentleman who took exception to attention from The Lady!
The customary good welcome was waiting at the Lion’s Head where there were more ‘old friends’ including Fran and John and Terry and Chris Hood. We even managed to get 2 songs from Terry.
